Position Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic and skilled Sign Shop Graphic Designer to play a key role in designing, proofing, and producing signs, banners, decals, and other custom products for our customers. This position requires a highly organized individual who can efficiently manage both design and customer-facing tasks, as well as assist with production duties if needed.
You will collaborate directly with customers to create and finalize designs, schedule meetings to discuss projects, and provide revisions via email. Once designs are approved, you will enter them into our project management system for manufacturing. You will also assist with receptionist duties, answering phones, greeting customers, managing invoicing, and ensuring timely deliveries.
Responsibilities:

Design & Proofing:
- Create custom sign designs for clients, including banners, decals, and specialty signs.
- Provide design revisions and proofs via email for client approval.
- Schedule meetings with clients to discuss and finalize design projects.
- Upon client approval, prepare designs for production and input them into our project management software (Monday.com).
Customer Service & Office Duties:
- Answer phone calls and emails, respond to customer inquiries, and manage front office duties.
- Greet customers as they enter the shop, assist with product pick-ups, and handle walk-in orders.
- Manage invoices using QuickBooks and assist with typing quotes for potential jobs.
- Schedule sign installations and coordinate with the production team to ensure timely completion of projects.
Production Support (Only when needed):
- Assist on the production floor if needed, including vinyl application, sign production, and material preparation.
- Manufacture traffic control signs, specialty signs, and retail products.
- Ensure design quality meets company standards before production.
- Organize products for shipping or customer pick-up.
Inventory & Maintenance:
- Monitor stock levels for sign materials and notify the production manager when supplies are low.
- Keep the sign shop organized and maintain a clean work area.
- Assist with organizing and packaging material orders, preparing them for delivery or pick-up.
Team Collaboration:
- Participate in weekly sign shop meetings focused on workload, deadlines, and product education.
- Help maintain the overall organization and operation of the sign shop and yard area.

Requirements and skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience with design software (like Adobe Illustrator, Flexi or CorelDraw)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers and team members.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills to meet production deadlines.
- Ability to handle receptionist duties, including answering phones, greeting customers, and managing invoicing.
- QuickBooks experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to repetitively lift over 50 lbs. and assist in both design and production work.
- Familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and relevant signage standards is a plus.
- Positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and ability to work independently when needed.
